Higokumaru is the most recent manifestation of the Herrscher of Corruption.
She is an assistant in Sakura Samsara open-world map, possessing special abilities limited to the map that can be upgraded.
Appearance[]
Higokumaru's size in Sakura Samsara is comparable to most ELFs, with her feet having no visible toes and an oversized head. She has pink hair with a few red stripes and short jagged ears. Her light blue eyes are paired with white pupils. Behind her back are 6 pink-red tails with yellow markings.
Personality[]
Higokumaru is a jovial, but the same time, a tragic character. On one hand she is kind towards Yae Sakura, referring to her as "Sakura-nee", while on the other hand, when angered, she can transform in to Hellmaru. She wants to help Yae Sakura to be freed from the Herrscher of Corruption's influence as an atonement from her past misdeeds.
Game Story[]
Sakura Samsara[]
This mysterious creature was found in a barrel of Yae Village by Yae Sakura who gave it the name Higokumaru. Higokumaru guided Yae Sakura through the castle tower, as they were looking for the missing Kallen. There, they were attacked by Honkai zombies, which awakened some of the final memories of Rin before her death, terrifying Higokumaru to the point she fired a fireball and blew up the door to the Celestial Palace. This makes Sakura and Higokumaru realize that by absorbing the strength of the monsters, she can become more powerful and regain more of her memories.
While in the first floor of the Palace, Higokumaru remembered the awakening of the Herrscher of Corruption, fueled by the dying Rin's rage towards Fire MOTH for her mistreatment. At the second floor, she remembered the Herrscher's sealing in the purple box. Slowly realizing who she once was, Higokumaru became worried that if she became stronger, she would become her old self once more and hurt many, but Sakura consoled her, promising that she would put her down if it came to that. Higokumaru's worries worsened in the third floor, in which remembered the Herrscher of Corruption's hatred, the moment it was freed by Sakura, and the fact they both shared a similar hatred towards humanity.
At the top of the tower, after being reassured by Sakura, Higokumaru found Jizo Mitama. Upon getting close to it, the Herrscher of Corruption reawakened and merged with her, forcing her to attack Sakura in their fused form. Upon being defeated, Higokumaru apologized to Sakura for attacking her and regained her full memories. She explained to her that the reason Kallen had disappeared was because the stigma space they were in was weakened when she was first defeated, but that with Jizo Mitama, they could bring her back and even allow Sakura to exert her will on the world outside. Just as Sakura checked a strange mask in the room, Kallen in her Sixth Serenade form appeared before her and stole Jizo Mitama.
Trivia[]
- Higokumaru shares visual appearance traits with both Rin and the late Yae Rin. She also has some of the first's memories.
- Higokumaru calls Yae Sakura "Sakura-nee" (lit. big-sister Sakura) in JP dub and "aneki" (lit. elder sister) in the EN localization.
