Infinity Abyss, also known as the Abyss, was a unique event separate from Honkai Impact 3rd's story and other events. It was removed in version 3.1. It rotated twice a week every week from Tuesday, 15:00 (3 PM) to Thursday, 22:00 (10 PM) and Friday, 15:00 (3 PM) to Sunday, 22:00 (10 PM). It requires no stamina and was not restricted in any way as long as your Valkyries were not defeated while inside of the event. If a Valkyrie was defeated within the Abyss, she needed 5 hours real-time to recuperate and return to the battlefield. The main objective in the Abyss was to clear challenging floors one at a time and reach as high as possible before time runs out. There were, however, several things to watch out that would impede on your progress. Mastering the Abyss meant learning and mastering these elements!
Captains Lv.25 and above can enter the Abyss. Prepare yourselves, Captains!
Temperature[edit | edit source]
The first and most prevalent element in the Abyss is the core temperature. In the Abyss, temperatures can exceed 1,000 C° so staying in the Abyss for too long can be fatal for the Valkyries! While in the Abyss, Valkyries will take continuous damage much like a Bleed status effect. In addition to the heat, temperature also dictates the difficulty of enemies within the Abyss. As temperatures increase, it becomes increasingly more difficult to sustain while inside the Abyss.
Temperature is based on how quickly all participants in the Abyss clear each floor on average. This is the Abyss's way to gauge the general strength of Captains within. Temperatures can differ between each tier of the Abyss, which will be explained in the section below.
Tiers[edit | edit source]
There are several tiers of Abyss. All Captains begin in Howling Abyss, the lowest and easiest tier. This is the introductory tier to get Captains used to Abyss mechanics and to familiarize themselves with the overall flow of the game mode. Below are the 7 tiers of Abyss from least difficult to most difficult:
All tiers of Abyss share similar structures except for Myriad, which we will explain later. Among each tier, there are additional brackets to separate Captains into groups. Within each bracket, there will be similar zones. In the promotion zone, there will be a number of people in the bracket that can promote to the next tier. This means, at the end of the current Abyss period, they will move out of the current tier into the next one in order. Captains can promote once per Abyss period until they reach Red Lotus. The retention zone also has a limited number of spaces per bracket that allows Captains to remain within that tier. Captains that retain in a tier will remain within that tier in the next Abyss period neither moving up or down. All other players in the bracket will be pushed down to the relegation zone. Players that relegate will be demoted to the tier below the current one in the next Abyss period.
Zones are on a first come first served basis. Captains that reach a floor first will remain at the top of the list of all Captains that reach that floor. That means if you wish to pass a Captain that has completed floor 20, you will have to complete floor 21 as they completed floor 20 before you. Additionally since floor 33 is the highest floor available in the Abyss, Captains that have completed floor 33 cannot be surpassed unless bombed down to a lower floor. Captains moved down floors through bombing will be treated as if they had only just cleared that floor, otherwise put at the bottom of the list.
Regardless of how a Captain does each period, they will receive rewards corresponding to their position in the Abyss at the end of each period. Only Captains that retain in the Howling Abyss receive no rewards because that is the lowest possible result.
As mentioned earlier, Captains can promote through normal means all the way until Red Lotus Abyss. After reaching Red Lotus, there will only be a retention zone and relegation zone. Because there is only a single Myriad Abyss bracket, only a certain number of (40) Captains that do well enough in the Red Lotus Abyss will promote to Myriad Abyss. This number is based on all players in Red Lotus and not based on brackets. This is why Red Lotus does not have a promotion zone.

Floors[edit | edit source]
In the Abyss, there are 33 floors Captains must dive into. Each floor is more difficult than the last, and hordes of enemies spawn in each of them! Each floor usually contains a large amount of both normal and elite monsters. For the most part, floors typically have three waves appearing either after the previous wave is defeated or at certain intervals. Among the 33 floors, there are several floors to take note of that are particularly more challenging or have different enemies to be wary of:
Floor 10: Ganesha[edit | edit source]
Ganesha is a familiar boss in Honkai Impact 3rd. Its large size and easily predictable moves aren't very much of a challenge for most veteran players. If you are a new player, simply do your best to learn Ganesha's tells and it should be no problem for you after a few tries.
The biggest thing to take into consideration is that Ganesha actually has two hitboxes, both damageable at the same time. Attacks that reach far or wide enough can actually hit both, doing considerably more damage. Most notably are Valkyries like Blood Rose, Goushinnso Memento, Scarlet Fusion, Bronya Zaychik (with a charged cannon or laser), and so on.
Ganesha has several attacks with very long and very easily discernible wind-ups. The two most important ones to watch out for are its very powerful rolling attacks.
- Ganesha spins completely perpendicular to the floor.
- This attack will, after about 2 seconds of wind-up, instantly dash across the stage, dealing massive damage to enemies caught in a line.
- With correct timing, you can trigger an Ultimate Evasion and take no damage from this attack.
- Ganesha will angle itself about 45° diagonally.
- This signals a very long, slow rolling attack that, if not dodged properly can deal significant damage and completely interrupt your combo.
- If you wish to dodge this attack successfully, try to dodge towards the outer portion of the roll and behind Ganesha, forcing it to do a complete 180° turn to attack you again, giving you more time to maneuver and dodge again if necessary.
- Time Slows are extremely successful ways to keep this attack from hitting you.
Another attack to watch out for is when Ganesha lowers its head, almost burrowing it into the ground. It will soon flick its snout up quickly, dealing damage and knocking back any directly in front of it. Similar to this attack's stance, Ganesha will sometimes plant its feet firmly into the ground, signalling an incoming large energy blast from its mouth. This attack has a near infinite range. Be sure to dodge it. One last attack to watch out for is when Ganesha stands on its hind legs. After it steps forward about 3 steps, it will drop its body onto the floor quickly, dealing large amounts of damage to Valkyries. Make sure not to get hit!
Floor 20: Dark Bronya[edit | edit source]
Dark Bronya is the same enemy found at the end of Chapter 2. She has a very easily readable shotgun-like cannon attack that is recommended to be dodged or you will take heavy damage. She will also sometimes throw down frag grenades that explode after about 2 seconds. She also will occasionally throw a stun grenade into the air. If your Valkyrie is looking directly in the direction of the stun grenade when it goes off, the Valkyrie will be stunned!
After taking some damage, she will put up a smokescreen around herself that prevents you from targeting her from afar. You will need to be within about 5 meters of her to target her. After a bit more damage, Bronya will create a room-wide smokescreen akin to a darkening effect that will cause you to lose visibility of Bronya. When this happens, be sure to stay on your toes to dodge Bronya's attacks as she periodically comes out of her stealth! She uses two attacks here, one is a quick close-range punch very quickly as she comes out of stealth. The other attack is where she hovers in mid-air for a bit before charging a powerful punch that will cause a large shockwave if it lands! This phase is generally considered a time sink. While Bronya is moving in and out of stealth, it is difficult to attack her, and the Abyss's high temperatures will eat away at your Valkyrie's health.
Lastly, Bronya will occasionally fly up twice in a row and then land on a very far side of the map from your Valkyrie. This is a sign that she is about to use her ultimate! It is an extremely wide multi-hit laser/cannon attack that is almost certainly fatal if taken entirely. We recommend that Captains either move the Valkyrie out of range of the attack or move in very close to Bronya as she will not hit in a small area around herself. This is a good opportunity to do damage.
At this point, it's just rinse and repeat, Captain! Good luck!
Floor 30: Wendy[edit | edit source]
Wendy is the same enemy fought at the end of chapter 3, though she will be considerably more difficult in the Abyss. Many of Wendy's attacks have a sometimes hard to see wind-up. If you are not used to her tells, it is recommended that you turn down special effects to see them until you are more accustomed to how they look. Wendy has several attacks and many of them cause knockback, risking you to lose your combo count. Be sure to study up and dodge them if possible!
- First is an attack where Wendy will fly directly up to a Valkyrie and do a wide sweeping attack twice. This attack has almost no warning other than Wendy coming directly into close range of your Valkyrie.
- If Wendy comes closer to you, dodge immediately!
- Wendy's most common long range attack is when she spawns two blades in the air diagonally behind her. After a small wind-up both blades will fly towards her target.
- The attack is easily readable. Dodge accordingly!
- Sometimes Wendy will reach her hand out and a small circle of wind will appear beneath her. After about 3 seconds, the circle of wind will explode, dealing damage and knocking back enemies.
- Practice the timing to dodge this!
- After a shrill cry, Wendy will summon large tornadoes around her that will spin around her and outward.
- Stay close to Wendy during this to avoid the tornadoes and deal damage.
- Wendy will sometimes spawn several wind blades behind her. This attack can be difficult to dodge for beginners.
- Each blade will fire one after the other with about 1 second between each firing.
- You will have to dodge each blade individually. Don't dodge too early!
- This attack is very long and can only be interrupted if Wendy's shield is broken.
- Be careful if you Time Slow or use Time Fracture on Wendy. The attack will still continue long after either are over.
After Wendy's shield is broken, she will slump over and be an easy target for damage for a long period of time. Focus all of your best damage in this window. As Wendy recovers, she will put a hand on her head and another shrill cry can be heard. Right before the cry is over, she will release an energy burst from her body, much like Honkai Priests or Lords, and knock back enemies around her.
Once you've learned all of these patterns, Wendy shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck, Captains!
Floor 33: Ganesha and Dark Bronya[edit | edit source]
Because this floor consists of two previous bosses, we'll avoid describing both again. The suggestion for this battle is to focus on defeating Bronya first. She's the hardest to read, and easily the most deadly if left unattended. Though Ganesha can still be a threat, Valkyries can maneuver behind Bronya in some cases to help avoid Ganesha.
Items[edit | edit source]
In Forbidden Abyss and above, Captains will be able to use items against each other, in a very similar fashion to Mario Kart. Some traps can be left behind, items can be used to buff Valkyries, or some items can be directly used on other Captains!
There are additional things to note about a few of the items:
- Frailty Potions can easily be removed by going into a stage and quitting the stage immediately. We recommend doing this with an unimportant valkyrie like White Comet alone on the team to minimize losses.
- Toxic Traps, though they state 'do serious damage' actually do continuous additional damage on top of the Abyss heat damage, resulting in very high amounts of gradual damage if Valkyries remain on the floor for too long.
- Bombs can explode during calculation.
- This means you are not safe from bombs until there is only approximately 59 minutes left before the Abyss period ends.
- Although calculation says 33 minutes, calculation only lasts 30 minutes.
- This means you are not safe from bombs until there is only approximately 59 minutes left before the Abyss period ends.
- Stealth protection does not stack. If you would like to keep yourself safe, you will need to set a timer or reminder for 30 minutes so that you can successfully use another stealth to replace your expiring one if necessary.
Themes[edit | edit source]
Occasionally themed Abysses will rotate alongside the regular Infinity Abyss. These special versions of the Abyss will have some kind of quirk associated with them that Captains can take advantage of to gain more success in the Abyss.
Gluttony[edit | edit source]
Gluttony Abyss adds the unique skill, Inquisitor's Judgement. This skill, when activated, will cast a debuff on enemies that causes them to take 100% more damage while lifted into the air (floating) and cause them to fall to the ground slower. This skill's cooldown will reset immediately after lifting an enemy into the air. Be sure to use this to your advantage whenever possible!
Valkyries that use this skill well include: Blood Rose, Shadow Dash, Dimension Breaker, Violet Executer (if paired with Blood Embrace), Scarlet Fusion, and Divine Prayer (during her Ultimate Evasion's effects).
Wrath[edit | edit source]
Wrath Abyss adds the unique skill, Wrath Burst. This skill lasts 6.6 seconds, during which time nearby enemies will receive 66% more damage and damage taken will be reduced by 66%. The skill will be usable every time you generate a 66-hit combo.
In addition to the Wrath Burst skill, enemies in Wrath Abyss will only spawn 2 at a time. Since the main strategies for regular Abyss usually involve taking advantage of powerful AOE and grouping enemies together, Wrath Abyss can greatly change your basic strategy, so adjust accordingly Captains!
Pride[edit | edit source]
Pride Abyss adds the unique skill, Shield of Pride. When a Valkyrie takes direct damage, she will be immune to damage and becomes invincible for 0.5 seconds. Shield of Pride can only be triggered once and will not stack.
In addition to Shield of Pride, triggering Ultimate Evasions will reset Shield of Pride and increase all damage by 50% for 4 seconds. The main theme of Pride Abyss is evasion, so dodge well and be rewarded!
Burning Soul[edit | edit source]
Burning Soul Abyss adds the unique skill, Burning Soul. After using the skill, nearby enemies will be ignited and will receive 50% more elemental DMG for 10 seconds. Burning Soul's cooldown is 20 seconds.
It is highly recommended to use elemental based Valkyries to take advantage of Burning Soul.
